Trainings

The generation of high quality laboratory data depends on the accuracy of all the measuring equipment in use to provide the data. The continued production of high quality test data requires an effective calibration system in place.

The operation of this system is the responsibility of all staff, and not merely the Calibration Officer or the calibration service. All have a part to play.

Ensuring that the measuring equipment is capable of the performance required of it is a first stage (equipment validation). Having access to properly maintained reference standards is essential, as is the know how and the procedures to maintain and check the calibration of equipment.

This course addresses the calibration requirements of EN ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) and of the various good laboratory practice programmes. It examines the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of calibration in the laboratory in the context of the ‘why’.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Having attended this one day course the delegate should;

  • Understand the importance of calibration of test equipment.

  • Understand the requirements relating to calibration for good laboratory practice and laboratory accreditation.

  • Be able to identify what measuring equipment requires calibration.

  • Understand the principles of a calibration system and know generally how the various items are correctly calibrated.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • Laboratory Managers, Supervisors, Technicians and Analysts who wish to increase their understanding of the significance of calibration and how to implement a calibration system as part of good laboratory practice.

IN-HOUSE COURSES

On In-House courses, the tutor will work with the customer in advance to clearly define course objectives to meet the specific delegate and company requirements. Where appropriate and facilitated by the company, the course exercises can be carried out using the company’s own case studies, procedures, forms, metrics etc
